The Black Stars of Ghana have pulled out of a friendly against Morocco citing “internal crisis”.
It was learnt that the players embarked on a strike to demand some monetary compensation and so the need to call off the friendly.
The match was slated for October 4 in Tangier – but representatives from both associations announced that this will no longer be the case.
Ghana’s communications director Henry Asante told Moroccan broadcaster Hesport that Morocco have accepted the decision by Ghana not to play the match.
However, Asante refused to go into why the national team does not want to play.
Hesport reported that the Ghana Football Association have sent an apology to Morocco for the match not taking place, citing an “internal crisis” related to the Ghanaian players’ compensation.
Several players refused to travel to Morocco due to the dispute with the association, according to the information.
Guinea have since replaced Ghana to play a friendly with Morocco.
Ghana have lost their opening two 2027 AFCON qualifiers – 2-0 vs Cote d’Ivoire and 4-2 to Gambia.
