Nigeria’s Flamingos followed up on the elimination of the Golden Eaglets from the U17 AFCON by also going down 2-1 to Poland in their opening group game at the U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Poland scored twice in the 33rd minute through a penalty and then in the 65th minute, before Nigeria pulled a goal back through substitute Oluebube Umejiaku.
Nigeria will now hope to bounce back in the competition when they next take on Puerto Rico, who lost 6-0 to North Korea in the other group game.
The match versus Puerto Rico is scheduled for Tuesday.
