David Okereke is buzzing again ahead of the kick-off of the new season in Belgium next month after he finally got his “lucky” jersey No 21.
Last season, Okereke spotted jersey No 14 and he scored nine goals in the league as Club Brugge reclaimed the championship title even though critics branded him an “expensive flop” after he was bought for a record eight million Euros.
The 22-year-old striker said he hopes to score more goals wearing his new jersey number.
“It is my lucky number, so I am happy that I can play with it now,” he revealed.
On Friday, he showed he means business come the new season with a double strike against KV Mechelen in a pre-season friendly.
He told his club’s website buildup for the new campaign has been physically demanding.
“We are working hard during the preparation to be ready for the start of the competition. We will be rewarded for our hard work”, he said.
