Little Belgian club Union St.Gilloise tonight marched into the last eight of the UEFA Europa League after they dumped Bundesliga side Union Berlin 3-0 with striker Victor Boniface again outstanding.
Union SG thus progressed 6-3 on aggregate.
Boniface, who scored twice in a 3-3 draw in the first leg in Germany a week ago, assisted for his team’s second goal tonight.
He was involved in another effort that was eventually chalked off for offside late on.
Boniface is his club’s leading scorer with 14 goals in all competitions thus far.
He has netted five goals in the Europa League.
Only three years ago Union SG were playing in the Belgian second division and now next month they will play a Europa League quarterfinal at the home ground of their bitter city rivals Anderlecht.
