Club Brugge have announced striker David Okereke will miss this weekend’s derby against city rivals Cercle Brugge as he has not fully recovered from Coronavirus.
Okereke, who has scored a goal in the new season, missed last weekend’s 6-0 win against Waasland-Beveren after he tested positive for Coronavirus and was subsequently quarantined.
The Belgian champions explained that Okereke has viral load and could infect other players were he allowed to return.
The fans will hope the former Spezia star is back for the high-profile home game against Anderlecht a week after the derby.
Genk striker Paul Onuachu and Samuel Kalu from Bordeaux are the other top Nigeria stars who have been hit by the Coronavirus thus far.
