The Super Eagles are off to a super start in this latest instalment of the Jollof Derby as they lead 2-0 by halftime tonight.
It has been tough going for the Black Stars after their rivals pressed forward from the onset in this Unity Cup contest at the Gtech Stadium in West London.
Nigeria were duly rewarded when they opened scoring in the 14th minute through Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers after he controlled a cross from the right by Sodiq Ismail before firing past the stranded Ghana shot stopper.
In March 2024, Dessers also opened scoring against the same team in a friendly in Morocco.
The Super Eagles then doubled their lead five minutes later when Semi Ajayi headed home off a free kick by Samuel Chukwueze.
On the half hour, Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali almost gifted Ghana a cheap goal but in the end he dived to parry to corner a goal-bound effort.
Nigeria continued to cause all manner of problems in the Ghana defence and first the Black Stars goalkeeper was forced to produce a reflex save to prevent an own, before the Ghanaian defender cleared to safety on the goalline another defensive mix-up.
It was a most entertaining first half with Nigeria the dominant force and more goals are loading going into the second period.
