It was coach Eric Chelle’s second victory in three matches in charge of the Super Eagles.
Tonight’s contest was one of two halves – the first half belonged to Nigeria, while the second half was bossed by the Ghanians.
The Super Eagles raced into a two-goal lead after just 19 minutes of action in this highly entertaining Jollof Derby.
Like it was in March 2024, Cyriel Dessers opened scoring for Nigeria on 14 minutes thanks to a lovely cross by Sodiq Ismail, before Semi Ajayi headed home a second goal five minutes later with the help of a deflection by a Ghanaian player.
Nigeria had at least two other chances to increase the tally as the Ghana defence was in all bother.
After the break, Ghana as expected chased the game and were duly rewarded on 70 minutes, when Thomas Asante finished off a lovely team play.
In the 89th minute, Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali pulled off a big save to deny Abu Francis from drawing Ghana level.
It was a game in which as many as six players from the NPFL were involved with Papa Daniel, Sodiq Ismail and Sikiru Alimi starting.
