Veteran striker Joseph Akpala has said he wishes to stay back at KV Oostende even though his contract will run out on Tuesday.
Akpala, 33, told Het Nieuwsblad that he hopes his experience will be considered for him to be get a contract extension.
The former Super Eagles striker, who has plied his trade in Germany, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, returned to Belgium in November after nine months without a club.
He scored a goal in seven appearances for KVO this past season.
The Belgian club now under new owners have the option to extend Akpala’s contract by another year when he expires in the new week.
