Former Super Eagles striker Joseph Akpala has got off to a winning start as coach of Belgian club KV Kortrijk after he won his first game in charge.
Kortrijk beat Cercle Brugge 2-1 at home to record their first win of the season.
The Belgian club sacked coach Edward Still this week and appointed their former player Akpala as caretaker coach.
Akpala was one-time Goal King of the NPFL as well as the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
He also featured for Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga.
Kortrijk are second from the bottom of the table with five points from nine matches.
