Bafana Bafana of South Africa failed to beat little Nicaragua in a test match in Johannesburg before their departure to the 2026 World Cup in Mexico.
England-based striker Lyle Foster missed a penalty in the first half with South Africa without several top stars after coach Hugo Broos rested players from newly crowned African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Bafana Bafana dominated in the scoreless draw with a team ranked 71 places below them in the FIFA ratings, but they also created very little up front.
They will now fly out to Pachuca, Mexico, before they take on Jamaica in a final warm-up game on June 5.
They will open the 2026 World Cup on June 11 against World Cup co-hosts Mexico.
