Flamingos of Nigeria fell 4-1 to Canada in their opening group game at the 2025 U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
A second-half blitz by Canada gave them a winning start after both teams were tied at 1-1 by half time.
Canada shot ahead after just two minutes, before Nigeria drew level on the half hour mark through Queen Joseph, who bundled home the ball after the goalkeeper could not hold on to a shot by Kaosarat Olanrewaju.
The second half belonged to Canada as they fired three unreplied goals to record a resounding victory on the night.
The Flamingos will take on France in their next group game.
