It’s another case of club versus country as the Super Eagles and Napoli are already on a collision course over the release of striker Victor Osimhen for next month’s AFCON.
Initial diagnosis after his surgery for facial fractures was that he will be sidelined for three months.
But Osimhen has resumed training this week.
And now Tuttomercato has reported that Napoli have invited Super Eagles doctors to Italy to examine the player.
“Nigeria are now readying their own medical professionals for a trip to Naples in order to assess Osimhen’s chances of taking part (in the AFCON,” one of the reports said.
“Napoli are said to believe that the forward will be sidelined for another two months, thus missing out for Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations – running from January 9 to February 6 – whereas Nigeria are determined to have their man present.”
The Eagles will open training camp for the AFCON on December 28.
They open their campaign at the delayed AFCON in Cameroon on January 11 against Egypt.
