The Super Eagles will now square up against either Guinea or Cameroon in an AFCON Round of 16 clash Saturday for a place in the last eight of the competition.
Kick-off time will be 9pm at the Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
This followed the Eagles finishing as runners-up in Group A behind Equatorial Guinea.
Nigeria recorded seven points from three matches, same as Equatorial Guinea, who finished top of the first round group courtesy of a superior goals difference.
The Super Eagles Round of 16 opponents will be known today, when Guinea battle Group C leaders and defending champions Senegal, while Cameroon take on bottom team Gambia.
Both matches will kick off 6pm.
Guinea are currently second in Group C with four points, while the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have a point from two matches.
Cameroon will need to beat Gambia by at least 2-0 and hope Guinea lose to Senegal for them to set up a clash with Nigeria this weekend.
Interestingly, Guinea defeated the Super Eagles 2-0 in a warm-up game in Dubai leading up to the AFCON.
Cameroon have thrice denied Nigeria the AFCON title in the championship game – 1984, 1988 and 2000.
