LASK Linz goalkeeper Tobias Lawal has been knocked out of the Super Eagles friendlies beginning with tomorrow’s clash against Algeria because he does not have a Nigerian passport and in Austria dual citizenship is not allowed.
Coach Gernot Rohr disclosed Lawal, who has played for the Austrian U20s, will not play any part in the friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia because Austrian law forbids dual citizenship.
“He’s not on the squad,” Rohr after providing the background behind this decision.
The goalkeeper has a Nigerian father and an Austrian mother.
He has been one of four goalkeepers who have been training with the Eagles squad in Austria.
