Super Eagles legend ‘Mathematical’ Segun Odegbami has joined a chorus for Francis Uzoho to be dropped from the squad to the 2023 AFCON.
This week, former NFF technical committee chairman Chris Green demanded that the Cyprus-based shot stopper be excused from the national team for a year after growing public disapproval over his performances with the Super Eagles.
Odegbami was the star when Nigeria won a first-ever AFCON title on home soil in 1980.
He has also shared the notion for Uzoho to be rested.
“I don’t know what is with Peseiro and his choice of goalkeepers. I really don’t know,” said Odegbami in a radio interview monitored by SCORENigeria
“It doesn’t matter how well he (Uzoho) does in training, but we have seen from game to game that just one mistake when the goalkeeper is expected to save you from a difficult situation, but when such a situation comes, he falters.
“Somebody else should have been given a chance and at this point, he should have been rested because psychologically he cannot play at his best because everybody is asking he should be left out of the team.
“I will be shocked if he is played in Cote d’Ivoire.
“And if they play him, then my expectations (of Nigeria winning the tournament) will be lowered.”
‘Mathematical’ should leave the choice of keeper to the Coach, in y opinion. Unless the Coach is suffering from dementia or wants to disgrace us, should he prove to be a legbere player in the upcoming AFCON. My N1000 worth…
With UZOHO we are NOT going ANYWHERE
Uzoho is the worst goalkeeper on earth 🌎
