Striker Leke James has admitted that his future at Norwegian champions Molde FK is uncertain after his current contract ran out and he has yet to be offered a new deal.
The 27-year-old James became a free agent from July 1.
“We’ll see what happens. I think the future will take care of itself. I am still a Molde player, and I focus on that,” he told Eurosport.
“I do not know (staying at Molde). It’s hard to say all the time I still haven’t been offered a new contract.”
He was asked if he is surprised that after banging 15 goals in the league last season, Molde are yet to give him a new contract.
“Well, I don’t know, maybe they’re trying to find out more about my situation,” he said.
“They’ve been in contact with my agent, but I haven’t seen any offers yet. When I see it, we can talk.”
Molde coach Erling Moe said they hope for an early clarification on the player.
“We have an open and nice dialogue with both Leke and his agent. We know that Leke will definitely use this season to have as many alternatives as possible,” he said.
“Then it is our job to try to convince him that this is the place for him in the future as well. And we do.”
