The NFF have announced that the new league season in Nigeria will kick off in September or October subject to the full re-opening of the country and the approval of the health authorities.
The season is expected to end in May 2021.
The NFF also upheld several decisions earlier taken by the clubs.
Among these decisions is the ranking the clubs on Points Per Game (PPG) to determine their positions on the league table after the season was suspended in March after 25 rounds of matches following the outbreak of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
As a result of this, the top two teams will represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Champions League, while the third-placed team will play in the Confederation Cup.
The country’s cup competition, the Aiteo Cup, will not be played this year and so the cup holders, Kano Pillars, will play in the Confederation Cup.
There will also be no promotion or relegation from the NPFL and the same thing applies to the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL).
The NNL, which has been on break since December 2019, is null and void.
It is also expected to begin a new season in September or October depending on the full reopening of the country.
