Joseph Akpala will not be given a new contract by Belgian club KV Oostende after his previous deal ran out last month.
He was given a week’s contract extension to be considered for a new deal.
The 33-year-old striker rejoined KVO after he was released in Saudi Arabia last year.
“Attacker Joseph Akpala is not offered a new contract and is therefore again a free player,” announced the club.
“We thank ‘Joske’ for his boundless effort and excellent mentality and wish him every success in his future endeavours.
“His contract with KVO ran until June 30, but was extended until last Saturday, then he played in the exhibition game against Varsenare, but now the co-operation has ended.”
Akpala has played in Germany, Turkey and for several Belgian teams like Club Brugge.
