Fulham forward Alex Iwobi has put to rest a record of most Premier League minutes held by a Nigerian held by former Chelsea star Mikel Obi.
Iwobi became the Nigerian with the most minutes played in the Premier League when he added 90 minutes to his tally in Fulham’s loss to Newcastle last weekend.
Iwobi took his Premier League minutes tally to 16,289 minutes surpassing Mikel Obi’s previous record of 16,218 minutes played.
Mikel’s Premier League career spanned 11 years, from 2006 to 2017, with him featuring 372 times for London giants Chelsea.
Alex Iwobi, on the other hand, has spent the entirety of his senior career in the Premier league, starting out at Arsenal academy before signing professionally in 2015,grabbing 100 appearances before moving to Everton and then Fulham, giving him a total of 247 appearances in eight years and still counting.
