The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) spearheaded by striker Enoch Tanimu will this afternoon aim to again be the champions of the prestigious football event at the National Sports Festival.
Bayelsa State stand between the FCT and glory today.
Kick-off time is 3pm.
The FCT were crowned champions when the country’s capital city staged the sports festival four years ago.
They then won bronze last year in Benin City and now have a massive chance to get on top of the podium in Asaba.
The team led by coach Bitrus Joshua got off to a great start when they stunned hosts Delta State 2-1 in their opening match.
They then drew with Katsina 1-1, before they recorded a thrilling 2-2 draw with Akwa Ibom to advance to the semifinal, where they outscored Lagos.
Striker Tanimu was in Benin City last year, when they placed third, and he said the team are fired up to go all the way.
“We want the Gold, that’s the target,” declared the striker, who has scored two goals and provided three assists thus far.
“It won’t be easy but we are confident with this very determined and talented team we can turn our bronze of last year to gold.”
Utility player Andra Ibelezim, captain Reuben Okoro and Tochukwu Michael are some of the other players who have caught the eye at this tournament.
