They eliminated AS Sobemap of Benin 5-4 on penalties today in Lome, Togo, after both teams played out a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their preliminary round of the competition.
The champions from Benin forced a 1-1 draw in the first leg played in Abeokuta a week ago.
Both teams were therefore tied 2-2 on aggregate and so the tie had to be decided via a penalty shootout, which the Nigerian champions won to advance.
They will now battle MC Alger for a place in the money-spinning league phase of the annual club competition.
