KAA Gent striker Ahmed Abdullahi has finally joined the rest of the Flying Eagles squad for the U20 AFCON in Egypt just as Ibrahim Mohammed ‘Beji’ blasted the only goal in a training game for Team A.
Ahmed Abdullahi is the only player to join the Flying Eagles directly from his European base.
He is one of only two foreign-based on the final 21-man squad with Trelleborg of Sweden central defender Abel Ogwuche the other.
The young striker scored twice in the U20 AFCON qualifiers in Niger Republic in May.
The squad have already settled down in Egypt since their arrival from a short training camp in Morocco.
Team A pipped Team B 1-0 in an evening training game, which lasted an hour, with Ibrahim Mohammed getting the only goal.
Winger ‘Beji’ was the top scorer at the qualifiers with four goals.
He has been pushing to get to back to full physical shape after he reportedly completed a transfer to Spanish Segunda Division side Cartegena.
The Flying Eagles will get their U20 AFCON campaign underway tomorrow night against Senegal.
