Frank Onyeka is in line for his UEFA Champions League debut after he was named on the FC Midtjylland squad for tonight’s home tie against Atalanta.
The defensive midfielder was missing in the Danish team’s home win over OB in the league at the weekend raising doubts about his availability.
There were also some who feared that he was still smarting from a failed big-money transfer away from Midtjylland.
“He will be one of Midtjylland’s keys to success,” predicted Danish journalist Sture Sando.
The 24-year-old Onyeka is expected to walk straight into the starting XI of the Danish club, who are still pinching themselves after they reached the group stage of the Champions League for the first time in their history at the expense of Slavia Prague.
He will play in a 4-3-3 formation as a second defensive midfielder with license to surge forward and join the attack as he has done so effectively for this club.
