This year has been a most competitive one in football headlined by a very entertaining World Cup as well as fiercely fought UEFA Champions League and various major leagues around Europe.
Last year’s winner Ousmane Dembele is again in the conversation after his goals helped PSG to back-to-back UEFA Champions League conquests.
France teammate Kylian Mbappe was top scorer in both the 2026 World Cup as well as La Liga with Real Madrid, Harry Kane has been pivotal for both England and Bayern Munich in the year under review and the legendary Lionel Messi again lifted Argentina all the way to the World Cup final.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner Rodri was named MVP of the 2026 World Cup as Spain won their second global crown with teenage sensation Lamine Yamal also announcing himself on the world stage after his exploits with Barcelona.
In other categories of the annual award, PSG will do battle with Arsenal for the Club of the Year prize as Luis Enrique faces off with fellow Spaniard Mikel Arteta for the Coach of the Year award.
Today’s award ceremony will begin at 6pm.
