Chinese club Shanghai Shensua could well let Odion Ighalo stay back at Manchester United till January as both teams are locked in talks.
Ighalo has done well on loan at his boyhood club in the Premier League, but this is due to end on Sunday.
The striker faces a travel ban due to the Coronavirus Pandemic as foreigners could not enter China earlier than October.
His Chinese club had wanted United to buy Ighalo permanently at the end of the loan.
But United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now said there have been fruitful discussions with Shanghai Shensua so that Ighalo could finish what he started at Old Trafford.
“The loan deal went until the end of May now, so obviously he’s supposed to be going back,” Solskjaer told MUTV.
“We’re in dialogue. They’ve been great towards us, his club, and allowed him to play for his dream club.
“It’s been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish off what he started, hopefully with a trophy for us. At the moment, nothing has been agreed. Their league is going to get started soon so we’re just waiting to see.”
The Premier League is due to restart Wednesday, June 27.
