The Super Eagles striker doubled Coventry lead in the 37th minute when he drove through the opposing defense to slot home with the help of a slight deflection.
Fellow Nigerian star Frank Onyeka did not feature for Coventry after he suffered a training ground injury.
Coventry are now provisionally in 15th position with nine points from as many matches, two points outside the drop zone.
