Salisu Yusuf was not a popular choice to lead Shooting Stars in the new season after the Ibadan outfit finished a commendable third in the NPFL last term.
He failed to get Shooting Stars past Tunisian club CS Sfaxien in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup and the team have since struggled in the league.
Last week, fans chanted “Salisu must go! Salisu must go!!” after the team were held to a scoreless draw by visitors Nasarawa United.
Today’s 2-0 defeat at Kun Khalifat was their fourth loss of the season.
They are now sucked into the relegation zone in 17th position with eight points in as many matches.

Enyimba are back in relegation trouble after they fell 4-2 at Katsina United, while promoted Inter Lagos are rooted at the bottom of the standings on five points.
There were home wins for Nasarawa United, Plateau United, Ikorodu City, Warri Wolves and Sporting Lagos.
