The NFF have called for an emergency congress in Abuja following the resignation of president Ibrahim Gusau and his executive committee.
The congress is expected to set aside the September 27 NFF elections slated for Lafia, Nasarawa State.
An interim administration for Nigerian football will then be set up before fresh polls will be conducted under a larger and more representative congress.
Nigeria have posted a series of disastrous results under the NFF headed by Gusau, including the failure of both the men and women’s teams to qualify for their respective World Cups.
There have also been allegations of corruption, mismanagement and incompetence leveled against the Gusau-led board.
Both the anti-corruption agencies and the country’s security organisations are currently investigating these allegations.
