The big prize for the Flying Eagles should they finish top of Group B of the WAFU B U20 AFCON qualifiers today will be avoiding hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the semifinals of the competition.
Cote d’Ivoire won Group A after they beat Niger 2-0 Saturday to finish on six points from two matches after they had earlier thrashed Benin 5-0.
The host nation will therefore face the runners-up in Group B, while the runners-up in Group A, Niger, will battle the winners of Group B in the semifinals.
Defending champions Nigeria need at least a draw this afternoon against second-placed Burkina Faso to win Group B.
Kick-off is 3pm Nigerian time.
The finalists of this qualifying series will qualify for the 2027 U20 AFCON to be hosted by Ghana.
