World Cup debutants Cape Verde will now face reigning champions Argentina in a 2026 World Cup Round of 32 tie after they extended their fairytale run in the competition.
The Blue Sharks from a group of islands with about 500,000 people held Saudi Arabia to a scoreless draw Saturday morning to finish as runners-up in Group H with three points.
They will now square up with Argentina complete with the legendary Lionel Messi on July 3 in Miami for yet another chapter of this romantic football story.
Cape Verde, who held both Spain and Uruguay to draws in their other group games, carved out the better chances against Saudi Arabia, who needed to win to advance to the knockout rounds of tournament.
