Promise David, who chose Canada ahead of the Super Eagles after he played for the Nigeria U23s in an official game, has recovered from a long-term injury and will now play for his adopted country at the 2026 World Cup.
Promise David suffered a major injury in February while playing for his Belgian club Union St.Gilloise and even had to undergo surgery.
Canada coach Jess Marsch has now come up with cheering news for the big striker.
“He looks very strong, he has spent a lot of time in the gym. He is working very hard on his nutrition, sleep, and recovery. He is stronger than ever and almost 100% fit,” he told Sporza.
“He is going to make the squad and be ready for the first match on June 12, I am sure of that.”
World Cup co-hosts Canada will announce their final squad for the tournament tomorrow.
