The Serbian club of Sadiq Umar, Partizan Belgrade, have placed players including the Nigeria striker, coaches and staff on half pay on account of losses caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
This will be in force over the next three months.
“The reality is that the state of emergency (in Serbia) will remain in force until the second half of May,” the Serbian club said in a statement.
“The Championship is not expected to resume until June, so regular business has been disrupted.”
Partizan have followed the example of neighbours Red Star, who also slashed by half the wages of their players at the weekend.
The 23-year-old Umar has netted 11 goals in 18 matches in the regular season in Serbia.
