Victor Boniface has taken a major step towards playing again this season in the Bundesliga after he rejoined Werder Bremen after he completed his rehabilitation at parent club Bayer Leverkusen.
The Super Eagles striker has been sidelined since January, when he underwent surgery for a long-term knee problem.
Werder Bremen head of professional football, Peter Niemeyer, confirmed the return of the 25-year-old striker.
“Victor will train individually for the entire week initially,” he said.
“Afterwards he will be carefully reintroduced to team training, so that we hope he can still play this season.”
Victor Boniface is on a season-long loan to Bremen from Leverkusen.
He has yet to score in 11 appearances for the club.
