KV Oostend striker Joseph Akpala suffered a hamstring injury in the Belgian league game against KV Mechelen and he is now a major doubt for Friday’s trip to Sporting Charleroi.
Akpala, 33, was forced out of the Mechelen match after half an hour.
“It remains to be seen whether Joseph Akpala will make it to Friday’s game, but we will certainly not take any risks,” disclosed KVO doctor.
“It cannot be the intention to force him on Friday with the risk of making it worse.
“We will still need him after the New Year.”
Akpala has scored a goal in five appearances since he rejoined Ostend on a free transfer.
