Tunde Akinsola has backed Cercle Brugge to move out of the relegation zone and challenge for place in Europe next season after his first goals helped them to a first victory.
Summer signing Akinsola was Man of the Match after his brace beat Antwerp 2-1 at home at the weekend.
He said this is a start of better things to come for his team who are second bottom with six points from 10 matches.
“This team is strong enough to climb to the positions that could get us a European ticket,” he declared.
“Of course, those two goals felt really good. Even though our defense had to pull out all the stops at the end to secure the victory,”
Big strikers Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare shone in Belgium, but Akinsola said he is a different type of player from his fellow Nigerians.
“I am not a powerhouse like many of my compatriots who have made it here in Belgium,” he said.
“At 1.75m, I have to rely on my speed on the flanks.”
