One of the leaders of the Super Eagles has told only SCORENigeria that the national team need a “crazy” coach to get going again.
The player, who has played for many years in Europe and he is considered as one of the Super Eagles team leaders, said the team have to be led by a coach who will call the shots and be respected by the team.
“We need a crazy coach, someone who is no-nonsense, who will decide the player he invites, those he will drop and both the players and the NFF will know where they stand with him,” the senior Super Eagles player confided in SCORENigeria
“This coach must be crazy to drop a big player and nothing will happen.
“Being coach of the national team is serious business and the NFF must ensure they get the right man for the job, if not we are in more trouble.”
Huge egos and indiscipline have overtaken the Super Eagles in recent years.
The NFF are yet to appoint a new coach for the Super Eagles since Finidi George resigned in mid-June.
SCORENigeria has since gathered that the process has been put on hold on the orders of the office of the President Bola Tinubu.
It is likely that the NFF may now be forced to appoint a caretaker coach for the team for next month’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The Super Eagles are home to Benin on September 7, before they travel to Rwanda three days later.
