Asisat Oshoala has insisted that despite two defeats the Super Falcons could still advance to the quarterfinal of the Paris 2024 Olympics with victory tomorrow against Japan.
The Super Falcons are bottom of Group C with no points or goals after two rounds of matches.
They will need victory against 2011 world champions Japan and hope other results go their way to sneak into the last-eight.
Oshoala admitted the Falcons have failed to take their chances against Brazil and Spain, but hopes it all comes together for the multiple African champions in a final group game.
“We just have to go all out against Japan,” urged Oshoala, a six-time African Player of the Year.
“We have to go all out and give everything and make the best of it because we still have the opportunity to qualify.
“Hope is not lost.”
Twenty years ago, also at the Olympics in Athens, Greece, Vera Okolo scored a 55th winner for Nigeria against Japan
Kick-off tomorrow between the Super Falcons and Japan is 4pm.
