An official press release by the NFF said Finidi George turned down a chance to lead a Spanish second division club to join Enyimba.
The former Ajax winger featured for Spanish clubs Real Mallorca and Real Betis.
Finidi will then go on to lead Enyimba to a record ninth NPFL title in his second season.
He has now quit the Aba club with six rounds of matches and the team are third in the standings with a good chance of successfully retaining the championship.
