The CHAN Eagles will on Monday face Cape Verde in a losers’ quarterfinal of the 2019 WAFU Nations Cup after both teams lost their qualification matches.
The CHAN Eagles fell 2-1 to nemesis Togo in their qualifying match to the main tournament, while Cape Verde were dismantled 4-1 by Cape Verde.
The winners between Nigeria and Cape Verde will head to the semi-finals of the Plate section of the tournament.
Nigeria have used this competition to prepare the U23s for next month’s U23 AFCON in Egypt, which serves as qualifying tournament for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The home-based Eagles reached the championship final two years ago in Ghana.
