Sadio Mane has yet to call time on his international career.
This much was said by new Senegal coach Patrick Vieira.
Vieira, like many other countries, announced his squad for the upcoming international break on Friday afternoon. Mané is missing from this list, but that is mainly due to physical reasons.
“Sadio Mané is struggling with an injury, which is why he is absent, but he will be there for the next international break,” Vieira said at the press conference.
“From tomorrow, I will gladly put my experience at the service of the nation, whether within the technical staff, on the coaching bench, or on the board,” Mané stated in an interview in early July.
However, the 50-year-old national coach has revealed that he has been in telephone contact with the 130-cap international and that Mané has not yet announced his official retirement.
During the upcoming international break, Senegal will face Mozambique, Ethiopia, and Comoros.
Vieira was appointed as the new national coach of the African country in August. He succeeds Papa Thiaw, who stepped down from Senegal after the World Cup.
