He celebrated his 26th birthday, opened his goals account in the Premier League on the opening day of action at Arsenal, before his wife gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.
The striker was an injury doubt for the tie at The Emirates, but came off the bench in the 72nd minute to pull a goal back for Forest after 10 minutes.
He bombed down from his own defence, before he stroke Elanga’s low cross home.
Awoniyi, an Arsenal fan while growing up in Nigeria, has enjoyed scoring against the London Gunners.
He also did so in May with the goal that effectively ensured Nottingham Forest safety in the Premier League.
His goal on Saturday makes him only the second Forest player after Stan Colymore to score in five straight Premier League games since 1995.
Last season, he finished as his club’s top scorer with 10 goals and now with a strengthened squad as well as another super start to the new season, he has been tipped to surpass that tally.
