Kelechi Nwakali came off the bench to make his debut for Portuguese club GD Chaves in the first round of the League Cup.
The midfielder was a 62nd minute sub.
However, it was not a great start for Nwakali as his new club held hosts Aves SAD from the second division to a 1-1 draw, before they fell 5-4 on penalties.
Nwakali,25, has signed a two-year contract with Chaves in the Super Liga after Spanish club SD Ponferradina were relegated to the third division.
