Victor Osimhen will be a better striker when he plays alongside the older and more experienced Odion Ighalo, according to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.
“Osimhen will grow and learn a lot by the side of Ighalo,” Rohr said after Nigeria advanced to the playoffs for the 2022 World Cup on the back of a 1-1 draw at home with Cape Verde today.
“We saw some interesting things between Ighalo and Osimhen (today).
“You need a little patience and time with Ighalo, he has not been with us for more than a year.
“I am sure for the AFCON we can prepare with these two players a more harmonious strike force. They were not bad together already, the chances we got came with the help of Ighalo.
“Let’s give them time to work together and the goals will come again.”
Osimhen today scored the opening goal against Cape Verde in Lagos after just within a minute of action.
He has now netted 10 goals in 19 appearances for the Super Eagles.
