Premier League club Watford have announced they will sign Super Eagles No 1 goalkeeper Maduka Okoye on January 1, 2022.
The announcement further said Okoye will return to Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam on loan till the end of the 2021/2022 season.
At only 22, the shot stopper is viewed as the future of Watford having signed a contract of five and half years.
Ben Foster, 38, is currently the No 1 choice at the club.
Okoye has thus swelled the strong Nigerian contingent at Watford that already include William Ekong, Emmanuel Dennis and Oghenekaro Etebo.
He has been in superlative form at Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam since he joined them last season from his hometown club in Germany.
Such displays will cause him to be linked with Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam last season.
He only recently extended his contract with Sparta Rotterdam.
Watford promoted back to the English top league this season are just two points above the drop zone.
They will therefore have to be prepared to do battle in the relegation dog fight.
