Genk coach John van den Brom has given an interesting reason to why star striker Paul Onuachu was not listed on the match day squad against KV Oostende Friday night.
“I saw Paul in training this week and talked to him. I thought he was not ready for this game and he agreed,” the Genk coach told Eleven Sports
“The focus has to be there and we have to be honest with the other players. There should be no drama.
“We hope he can play against (Shakhtar) Donetsk again.”
Genk will welcome Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk in a UEFA Champions League qualifying match Tuesday.
Before now experts had observed the Super Eagles striker was a shadow of the striker who scored goals for fun last season as speculations raged over his future at the Belgian club.
Without Onuachu, last season’s runners-up Genk suffered a surprising 4-3 home loss to KVO.
