The Super Eagles striker was given a straight red card for his role in a scuffle with Leverkusen a goal down at Dortmund.
The referee then consulted VAR and thankfully the red card was rescinded altogether.
The dismissal would have cost him at least two of the four matches to be played till the end of the season.
Leverkusen again fought back to draw level seven minutes into stoppage time to now go unbeaten in 45 games in all competitions.
They will now hope to defend their unbeaten record Saturday at home against third-placed Stuttgart.
