Defender Miracle Usani has made a bullish prediction that the Flamingoes can go all the way to be crowned world champions in India after they upstaged USA to reach a first-ever U17 World Cup semifinal.
Nigeria beat USA 4-3 on penalties after scores after regulation time stood at 1-1.
Usani scored one of the penalties only after a VAR review ordered she retake her lost kick when the USA goalkeeper stepped out of the goal line.
The Flamingoes will battle Colombia tomorrow afternoon in Goa for a place in Sunday’s Final.
“I believe we can get to the final,” Usani said in an interview with FIFA.
“If we can beat USA, I don’t see any obstacle standing in our way.”
USA enjoyed the better stats against Nigeria, but Usani said her team were focused on winning to go through to a historic semifinal after three failed attempts previously.
“It was just about winning the game,” she said. “That’s exactly what we had to do, and that was the key to our victory.”
Kick-off tomorrow against Colombia is 12 noon in Nigeria.
