The Falconets will be seeking to play in a third U20 World Cup semifinal when they take on Colombia later today.
They first reached the last-four of the World Cup in 2010, before they made it again to that stage of the competition four years later.
Colombia stand between them and the semifinal after both teams last clashed for a place at the World Cup final 16 years ago with the Falconets, inspired by Asisat Oshoala, edging it 1-0.
The gritty South Americans eliminated hosts Poland courtesy of a late winner to reach this quarterfinal.
Coach Moses Aduku said his team are focused after their confidence was boosted by a convincing 3-0 thumping of England in the Round of 16.
“We must put our best foot forward, contest every ball and go for victory,” he charged.
“The girls realised that this is an extraordinary opportunity for them to write their names in hold in Nigerian football.”
The team denied reports that they planned to boycott training leading up to the Colombia clash over allowances and bonuses.
The winners of the semifinal between Nigeria and Colombia will then keep a date with either defending champions North Korea or Canada.
Kick-off today is 2pm.
