Brazilian giants Sao Paulo have signed 18-year-old striker Azeez Olalekan Balogun from Unique Academy in Ibadan.
Balogun has signed a loan agreement valid until February next year with an option for a three-year contract with the main team.
He will start out with the U20s headed by coach Alex de Souza.
Azeez belongs to Unique Futbol Academy based in Ibadan.
He is 1.80m tall, was born on November 1, 2003 and plays mostly as a second striker.
He was discovered by São Paulo on a trip by top officials to Nigeria, where they watched a youth tournament.
“I am very happy for the opportunity and for defending the colours of a big club like São Paulo. I hope to bring joy to the fans and help my new teammates,” he promised.
Azeez is the first Nigerian to feature for the club’s youth team.
