The Super Falcons will bounce back Sunday against world champions Spain after a narrow loss to Brazil in their opening group game of the Paris 2024 Olympics, according to Sports Minister John Enoh.
The Super Falcons fell to a first-half strike by Gabi Nunes in Bordeaux and will now travel to Nantes for a second Group C game against Spain, who beat Japan 2-1 to open their own campaign.
The Nigerian women have thus lost all three matches they have played against Brazil.
“The next match against Spain, the World Cup champion will be daunting, but not insurmountable,” maintained Sports Minister Enoh.
“It wasn’t a bad game (vs Brazil).
“We could have been a goal or two up before Brazil scored their goal.”
Spain lead Group C with three points having scored more goals than Brazil, while Nigeria and Japan are without points.
